Our Counsellor
"The university experience begins early in the Upper School when our students enter the IB Middle Years Programme. Our IB education allows students to develop their passions and self-advocacy skills — so they are well-equipped to lead their own search. Our counselling programme helps both students and families understand the requirements and options for post-secondary study. We support the transition from high school by helping to find the best match in terms of academic profile, finances, career interest, and happiness."

University counselling at LCIS is not a last-minute exercise. We begin working with students in Grade 9 — helping them choose subjects, build their profile, and understand what universities around the world are looking for.

By the time students reach Grades 11 and 12, they have a clear picture of their options, a competitive application, and the confidence to advocate for themselves. Our students are known at universities worldwide — and our track record speaks for itself.

Parents are partners in this process. We run dedicated information sessions, provide guidance on financial aid and scholarship applications, and remain available throughout the application season.

The Process

Counselling that begins in Grade 9.

A four-year process, not a last-minute scramble. Here is how we support students from subject selection through to enrolment.

Subject Selection

Working with students in Grades 9 and 10 to build a subject profile that reflects their strengths, interests, and target university requirements.

Profile Building

Co-curricular activities, service, leadership, and the Extended Essay all contribute to a distinctive university application. We help students see the full picture.

University Research

Access to Maia, our dedicated university guidance platform. Students explore thousands of institutions and receive data-driven course and country recommendations.

Application Support

Personal statement coaching, UCAS and Common App guidance, interview preparation, and detailed deadline management — including early decision and rolling admissions.

Scholarships & Aid

Guidance on merit scholarships, need-based financial aid, and country-specific funding. LCIS graduates have earned over $10.5M in scholarships since 2019.

Family Guidance

Dedicated information sessions for parents on university systems worldwide, financial aid processes, and how to support your student through application season.

What Families Say

The LCIS difference, in their words.

"Our daughter's continuing education would not have been possible without her success as an IB student. She got into university and we received the financial support we needed because of the quality education and reputation of LCIS."

Alumni Parent

"Both of my children were able to gain admission to Ivy League universities because of the high-quality education they received at LCIS. The rigour of the IB and the well-rounded curriculum gave them the preparation needed to excel in university and in life."

LCIS Parent

"Universities prefer to admit students and award scholarships because of the quality and relevance of an IB education. Most universities offer advanced standing for students achieving a 5 or more on higher level courses. The real-world experience of the Career-related Programme is a significant differentiator in the application process."

Frederic Bournas Head of Upper School, LCIS

"From a survey of 150 universities, IB students were favoured over students from a country curriculum background — due to the breadth of curriculum, development of critical thinking, time management skills, and communication skills."
