
The ARTs
A t LCIS, arts instruction is provided by specialist teachers in conjunction with local and international professionals.
IT ENCOMPASSES VISUAL ART, MUSIC, DANCE AND THEATRE and occurs several times a week within the formal curriculum as well as in electives and the co-curricular programme.
Students participate in music lessons as a part of the regular school day in Preschool through grade 10. Visual Art is also part of the regular curriculum for Preschool-Grade 10, and it is an optional component of the IB programmes for Grades 11 and 12. Several times a year, students compete, perform and exhibit their work in visual and performing arts both on-campus and in national and international competitions.

ViSUAL ART
At LCIS, visual art instruction emphasises the creation, understanding, and appreciation of art. Students develop skills across a range of artistic media, explore art history, and engage in critical analysis, examining the work of renowned artists, their peers, and their own creations.

MUSIC
Music is a vital part of the LCIS experience, supporting students’ artistic growth through regular practice and performance. The curriculum includes music theory and history, music technology, instrumental exploration, choral singing, and dance. By the end of Grade 5, all students are proficient in playing the steel pan, and from Grade 7, they begin individualised instrumental lessons.

Dance
Dance at LCIS encourages creative expression and cultural appreciation. Students explore a wide range of movement styles, from classical ballet to Hip Hop and Jazz. The curriculum emphasises technique, choreography, and performance, helping students develop coordination, confidence, and a deeper understanding of dance as a powerful form of storytelling. Opportunities to perform throughout the year allow students to showcase their learning and creative growth.
